Video Project
- How and why is art used as a vehicle for communication?
2. How is art used in everyday life?
It can be used in jobs like being a painter. Also other construction jobs and in school. If you are in school and need to make a poster for a class or something like that then that's when art comes in handy.
3. What is old, and what is new in any work of art?
The paint can be very old but there can always be new meanings. That is not always true though because the paintings are not always the original ones.
4. Why do Artists Produce Preliminary Plans? (sketches, brainstorms, storyboards, etc?)
To get out all of their thoughts and ideas. Sketches and storyboards are methods that are similar to a rough draft. Those types of methods are used commonly to improve the final draft.
5. What problem-solving skills are employed in making works of art?
A problem solving skill that is employed in the making of art is perseverance. When you make art you start with rough sketches. Then you refine the rough draft farther and eventually end up with a good final draft.
Project Reflection
This project took off right away because it was fueled by passion. When we were brainstorming about movie project topics Fingerboarding was not the first one that came to mind. We were originally going to make a ghost film. But one day during class my friends and I were shredding our Fingerboards and decided if we had to do a video project we mine as well do it on what we love. Helpful pieces to making this documentary was work time.

Political Cartoon Project
Project Reflection
With my political cartoon I do believe I met all of my objectives. My cartoon was simple and makes a point about the issue. In my political cartoon I have a killer whale with a time bomb strapped to him. The reason for the time bomb relates to what I heard in the movie BlackFish in which we watched in class. It was about a killer whale in captivity named tilikum. He has killed 3 people since he was introduced to captivity. During the film a former seaworld employee who worked with tilikum said that he was similar to a time bomb. Just waiting to go off and kill again. That is where I got the idea to put a time bomb on him. A very good way to share information artistically is through political cartoons. Although most political cartoons do not go into extreme depth, they still get the message across often in a humorous or ironic way. Creating and viewing art differ in many ways. One way they differ is because when you create art you get to incorporate your own ideas and feeling. You get to personalize your art piece and make it what you want and how you want it. Whereas when you view art you view other peoples ideas and feelings.
Pre Historic Art History Drawings
Project Description
I started this project by choosing a prehistoric animal. The reason why I chose a prehistoric animal is because we just finished an art history unit. A resource that I used to improve my drawing skills was a handout. Roxy provided a numerous amount of handouts with many animals for the whole class. I used the handout and followed along step by step in order to draw my mammoth. The image trace technique that I used in adobe illustrator made some of my drawings look better. I could see myself using this in the future for other drawing projects to make them look better.

- Hair Color: In order to change her hair color I used a paint brush tool with a soft light affect.
- Eye color: I used the pen tool to select her eyes and then changed the hue
- Vampire teeth: How I changed the teeth was I selected them and used the warp tool to make them long and pointy.
- Cracked Skin: I made the cracked skin by finding a picture of cracks on the internet and then multipying the layer. Then I round the picture of cracks
Teacher Creature Project
ReflectionFor the Teacher creature project I chose the teacher Brian Morgan. I decided I should turn him into a tortoise that is in a conflict with another tortoise. The first step I took was selecting a background and pasting it into photoshop. The second step I took was using the pen tool in order to select my teachers head and extracting it from his body. I then resized it correctly to the tortoises body using Control T while holding shift. Then in order to make Brians skin blend in I searched tortoise skin. Then after putting the skin over Brians face I changed the opacity of the layer so that you could see brians face behind the skin.
The hardest part of the project for me was shaping and making Brians head fit on the tortoise. I had to redo many parts of this many times. Such as taking Brians head off and resizing it to the tortoises body. There were many other difficult parts but that was by far the hardest for me. My favorite part of the project is the final product. After working hard on this for a week and then seeing it all come together is very pleasing to me. I also liked learning about all the different tools and how to use them. What I have learned about myself as a Digital Artist throughout this project is that I am not very good. I also learned that if I persevered through it then it is possible to complete anything. |
